It opened on 4 July 1970 and ran seventy-four days, to the middle of September, on a stretch of Han Herred farmland between Frøstrup and Østerild that a Copenhagen association called Det Ny Samfund had bought that year — 47 tønder land, around twenty-six hectares. Somewhere between two and three thousand people camped. Tens of thousands more passed through. Then September came, the tents thinned out, and a handful of people simply did not leave. Fifty-six years later, Thylejren is still inhabited.]]></description>
